Green Wave Baseball season is upon us. There is an excitement in the air when Tulane’s most successful sport begins. Second-year Head Coach David Pierce has improved upon his 2015 team that received an NCAA regional bid. The 2016 team is built with great recruiting, the addition of experienced transfers, and players recruited by former head coach Rick Jones.
The Green Wave are picked to finish second in the tough AAC. Two players expecting standout years are shortstop Stephen Alemais and right-handed pitcher Corey Merrill. Yes, this team is loaded with talent – great starting pitching, more power than we have seen at Tulane in a while and depth at most positions. The questions are can Tulane get the “timely” hits and will an inexperienced relief pitching staff quickly mature?
What are your thoughts about 2016 Tulane Baseball? Is this a Super Regional team or possibly good enough for the CWS?
